International Tournament Senior Free style „Takhti Cup“ February (08-09, 2018 Tabriz, Iran)

 The 38th Senior free style wrestling Tournament “Takhti Cup” was held during the period on February 8-9, 2018 in Tabriz (Islamic Republic of Iran).

Traditionally, the strongest representatives of free-style wrestling from around the world took part in the competitions from  twenty three (23) countries, including Mongolia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Iran, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Armenia, Russia and other countries.“Takhti Cup” was held under the new rules of UWW - United World Wrestling on three (3) mats, in 10-weight categories 57-61-65-70-74-79-86-92-97-125 kg. On the first day of the competition, the wrestlers fought in all the preliminary matches up to the finals, and on the second day of the tournament the consolation and final tournament of the Freestyle Wrestling Cup took place. One hundred sixty (160) athletes have participated in the competition.

As a result of the Tournament, the Iranian team won the title with 200 points, Turkey placed second with 143 points, and Georgia came in third with 84 points.

Mongolia earned two (2) gold medals, Belarus and Bulgaria by one. Kazakhstan and Hungary were the countries that captured silver medals during the tournament.

Four bronze medals went to Azerbaijan, two to Ukraine, and by one Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
